Airbnb Daryl: one home for every asset.

Daryl is Airbnb’s asset management platform. Airbnb creates vast amounts of photos and video that need to be easy to search, share and clear, for internal as well as external use. With Your Majesty, we redesigned the platform to make it more efficient and bring it closer to the Airbnb brand.

Start with the power users.

We built on Airbnb’s legacy platform, so most of our time went into interviews and workshops with internal and external power users. I was the second designer on the project, next to design lead Magnus Løwing.

Search, view, collect, share, download
Five things everyone comes to Daryl to do.

Search first

Search became the front door, with suggestions as you type and filters for purpose, topic, content type, creator, year and orientation. Featured collections and themes help people browse when they don’t know exactly what they need.

Clear rights at a glance

Every asset page shows usage rights and asset information next to the image, with related and conceptually similar assets below, so people can find, check and clear an asset in one place.

Closer to the brand

Daryl got its own mark and a component set built on Airbnb’s visual language, so the tool feels like part of the brand it serves.
